Activities & Programs

Our Weekly Meeting Program

Our congregation holds two regular meetings each week, open free of charge to all members of the public. No registration is required.

Sunday Meeting

The Sunday program consists of two parts. First, a qualified speaker delivers a Public Bible Talk — a 30-minute discourse on a Bible topic relevant to everyday life. Topics rotate weekly and cover subjects such as family relationships, coping with grief, the purpose of life, and the future of our world.

The Public Bible Talk is followed by the Watchtower Study — a congregation-wide discussion of a Bible-based article. Audience members of all ages are encouraged to comment and participate, making this an interactive, community-building experience rather than a passive lecture.

Midweek Meeting

The midweek program is called the Congregation Bible Study. It involves an in-depth examination of a specific book of the Bible, with contributions from congregation members of all ages. The midweek meeting also includes a Ministry School segment in which students of all ages — including children and teenagers — practice Bible reading, public speaking, and teaching skills in a supportive, encouraging environment.

Annual Programs & Assemblies

In addition to weekly meetings, our congregation participates in several larger events throughout the year.

Memorial of Christ's Death observance

Memorial of Christ's Death

Held annually in the spring, the Memorial of Christ's Death is the most important event in the congregation's calendar. It commemorates the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and is observed by millions of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide on the same evening. The Timmins Congregation's Memorial is open to the entire community — all are warmly welcome. The program lasts approximately one hour and includes Scripture reading, a brief talk, and prayer.

Circuit assembly program

Circuit Assemblies

Twice each year, the Timmins Congregation joins with neighboring congregations from across Northern Ontario for a Circuit Assembly. These one-day events feature a full program of Bible-based talks, interviews, and demonstrations designed to encourage and strengthen families and individuals. Circuit Assemblies are held at regional venues and are open to the public free of charge.

Regional convention event

Regional Conventions

Once a year, Jehovah's Witnesses from across a wider region gather for a Regional Convention — a multi-day event held at large venues such as arenas and convention centres. The program includes Bible-based dramas, music, encouraging talks, and practical instruction for all ages. Regional Conventions are consistently rated among the most spiritually uplifting events in our calendar and are open to all members of the public.

Programs for Children and Teenagers

The Timmins Congregation is committed to equipping young people with the values and skills they need to navigate life successfully. Our youth programming is woven into every regular meeting rather than being offered as a separate afterthought.

During midweek meetings, children and teenagers participate in the Ministry School program, where they learn to read aloud with expression, organize thoughts clearly, give short talks, and have conversations about Bible topics. These are life skills — communication, preparation, and confidence — that benefit young people in school and in their professional lives as well.

Parents are encouraged to attend and participate alongside their children. The congregation meeting environment is family-friendly, with young children welcome in the main hall. Many families find that attending meetings together is one of the most effective ways to reinforce the values they teach at home.

Our congregation also provides study materials specifically designed for children, including colorful publications, activity books, and a dedicated children's website through JW.org (maintained by the worldwide organization of Jehovah's Witnesses).
