Our Beliefs Are Grounded in the Bible
Every teaching we hold is drawn directly from careful, personal study of the Scriptures.
Faith Built on Scripture, Not Tradition
Jehovah's Witnesses base every belief on the Bible. Our faith is not a cultural tradition passed down without examination — it is a carefully studied, personally verified conviction drawn from the pages of Scripture. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it provides accurate, practical guidance for every aspect of human life. We do not add to it, nor do we subtract from it. We strive simply to understand it as its original authors intended and to apply its teachings in our daily lives in Timmins and beyond.
Six Core Beliefs
These are the foundational doctrines of our faith, each supported by clear Biblical evidence.
One God — Jehovah
The Bible teaches that there is one God — Jehovah — the Creator of the heavens and the earth and the source of all life. He is a personal God who has a name, a purpose, and a profound love for humanity. Understanding who God truly is forms the foundation of genuine faith.

Jesus Christ, God's Son
Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God and the central figure in God's purpose for humanity. His ransom sacrifice — giving his perfect human life in exchange for the life Adam forfeited — opens the way for all who exercise faith to gain eternal life. Jesus is our Lord, our example, and our hope.

The Bible — God's Word
The entire Bible, comprising 66 books written over 1,600 years, is divinely inspired and accurate in all it teaches. It serves as our complete guide for life, our standard for moral decisions, and our source of genuine comfort in times of trial. No human tradition can supersede it.

God's Kingdom
God's Kingdom is a real heavenly government — not a condition in people's hearts — that will soon intervene in human affairs to restore peace, justice, and perfect conditions to the entire earth. Jesus taught his followers to pray for this Kingdom in what is commonly known as the Lord's Prayer.

The Resurrection Hope
The Bible promises a future resurrection of the dead — a genuine return to conscious life on a paradise earth for billions who have died. This hope is not symbolic; it is a literal promise from God, supported by the resurrection of Jesus himself as the guarantee of things to come.

Family Values
Strong, loving families built on Bible principles are central to our way of life. We believe that the family is the fundamental unit of human society and that God's standards for marriage, parenting, and family relationships produce lasting happiness and stability for all involved.

Other Important Teachings
In addition to the six core beliefs above, Jehovah's Witnesses hold a number of other convictions drawn directly from Scripture. We believe that the soul is not immortal — that when a person dies, they are truly unconscious, awaiting resurrection. We believe that God's original purpose was for humans to live forever on a paradise earth, and that this purpose has not changed.
We do not celebrate holidays with pagan origins, nor do we accept blood transfusions, based on our understanding of the Bible's direction regarding blood. We believe that all genuine Christians have a responsibility to share the good news of God's Kingdom with their neighbors — which is why our members engage in the public ministry work that has become our most recognizable characteristic.
We hold that Christians are to remain politically neutral, avoiding partisan politics while respecting the governing authorities. We pay our taxes, obey the law, and seek to be model citizens in every community we call home — including Timmins, Ontario.
