Why We Reach Out
Jehovah's Witnesses carry out one of the largest volunteer public education campaigns in the world. In Timmins, congregation volunteers regularly visit homes, offer Bible literature at public locations, and engage in cart witnessing throughout the city and surrounding communities. All outreach activities are completely voluntary, conducted by trained volunteers, and entirely free to the public.
Our motivation for this work is simple: we believe the Bible contains genuinely good news — information that can meaningfully improve people's lives today and give them a solid, evidence-based hope for the future. We want to share that with as many people as possible, and we respect every individual's right to consider or decline what we offer.
Members of the Timmins Congregation are warm, approachable neighbors who volunteer their personal time to reach out because they care — not because they are paid to do so. Every witness who comes to your door or stands at a literature cart is a volunteer acting out of sincere belief and genuine goodwill.
Our outreach is never aggressive or coercive. We offer; we listen; we leave respectfully if you are not interested. We believe that the best ambassadors for any message are people who embody the values that message teaches — kindness, patience, and respect for others.
Our Outreach Activities
The Timmins Congregation engages in several forms of public outreach throughout the year.
Door-to-Door Visits
Trained volunteers make friendly calls to homes throughout the Timmins area, offering free Bible literature and conversation on topics that matter to families — purpose of life, raising children, coping with difficulty, and more. Householders are always welcome to say they are not interested, and their wishes are respectfully honored.
Public Witnessing Carts
Literature carts stocked with free Bible publications are set up at public locations throughout Timmins — shopping areas, parks, and transit points. Passersby can browse the materials at their own pace and speak with a volunteer if they wish. There is never any pressure or solicitation of any kind.
Letter & Phone Witnessing
During periods when in-person visits are not possible — due to weather, travel restrictions, or public health considerations — congregation members maintain their outreach through personalized letters and courteous phone calls to residents who have expressed interest. This ensures that no one who wants to learn more is left without access to our resources.
Disaster Relief Support
Congregation members participate in the worldwide Jehovah's Witnesses disaster relief program. When floods, fires, or other emergencies affect communities in Northern Ontario, trained volunteers from local congregations assist affected neighbors with cleanup, repairs, and practical support — regardless of whether those neighbors share our faith.
Free Literature for the Timmins Community
All publications offered by the Timmins Congregation are available at no charge. We never request payment, ask for donations, or place any financial obligation on anyone who accepts our literature. Everything we distribute is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of our own congregation members.
